Meet Miss Tiny! She serves Monday and Wednesday evenings, pretty much wherever she is needed. On Mondays, she can usually be found with our little Pebbles (1st & 2nd graders) and most recently, she has been leading the Memory Verse station for our 3rd – 5th graders on Wednesdays. Tiny grew up in Chicago. She has three grown children and one “Glambaby” – her son’s beautiful eight-year-old daughter. She worked as a Switch woman with the Chicago Transit Authority for 24 years. S

This month we are also in need of gift wrapping supplies, as we prepare for our annual Wrapping party on December 13. Any items you can provide will help.

Meet Becky. She and her husband of 27 years have a beautiful family, with four adult children. Becky went to college in Pensacola, FL and became a nurse. She’s worked largely in clinic and homecare settings. In recent years, her focus has been training and optimizing healthcare workers’ use of the computer system. Becky started volunteering in our Teens program last November. She spent several years working with youth who live in challenging situations and the Lord kept her h

I’ve been volunteering at RHK for about 10 months now, and I truly love what I do. I typically come in during the day and work with April, RHK’s Storeroom Coordinator. What I enjoy most is that every day is different. I never quite know what I’ll be doing, and that keeps it exciting.

Meet the McNeil family. Jaci, Jim and Jeb teach a music class for our kids on Wednesday evenings and six-year-old Viv joins the rest of the kids in our evening program. Recently, Jim and Jeb have also volunteered to drive one of our vans to pick-up and drop off kids.

“Mr. Rich” served in our evening program for more than 10 years. In 2014, he and his wife, Janel heard about the need for volunteers at RHK to come and share Christ’s love with our kids and they decided to do just that together.

One of my favorite memories was when the kids came to my church for a Christmas Party. At the end of the night, we had a dance party. I had the best time dancing with one of the kids. It was so much fun and sealed the deal for me to volunteer at RHK. Another favorite memory was seeing some of the kids get baptized. Watching their faces light up with excitement was priceless. Serving the kids keeps me yearning to return every week. This is my way of serving Christ - by being there for all of them. Mostly, I feel called to be there to do my best to help lead them in the ways of the Lord. These kids have a special place in my heart. The world works against them non-stop. I just want to be someone they can look to that is there for them.
