RHK Volunteer Spotlight: Jan Schiro

My name is Jan Schiro. I grew up in the town of Stockton, IL and graduated from Stockton High School. I was so interested in using a microscope, I went to school to be a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I worked at a few different places before ending up at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

When I retired in 2021, I knew my husband and I wanted to do some volunteer work, and RHK was the place. I have volunteered for about five years, always the last Wednesday of the month, serving dinner to the kids. Love those Pebbles!

If someone asked me about being a volunteer, I would say YES! It’s kind of neat to see kids that are hungry are getting their supper from us. That's why I volunteer.
