I grew up on a farm in rural Leaf River, attending all 12 grades of school there. I started College in 1973, but did not finish my bachelor's degree until 2011! I guess you could say life got in the way!
I first heard about RHK when Dola (RHK’s founder) came to speak at our church. After I met my husband, Rich, his boss encouraged us to volunteer. So, in 2014, my husband and I started volunteering with the kids at Rock House Kids at the same time. We had talked about how easy it was to donate to a cause but not really get involved in it. So, we hit the ground running. We each received much satisfaction from serving and loving these children. It was exhausting and led to some sleepless nights, but there was joy knowing we were exactly where we were supposed to be!

Though Rich went to be with Jesus last May, Janell made the decision to continue ministering at RHK and serves as a mentor with our grades school kids, and we are so glad she did!
