RHK Volunteer Spotlight: Heidi Benning

Hi! My name is Heidi. I am originally from Sheboygan, WI, and moved with my husband to Rock City, IL, 11 years ago. We have three kids—Brynlee (8), Easton (6), and Micah (4). I have been blessed to stay home with them since 2021.
I started working part-time at our church last summer as the assistant to the Women's Ministry director, and that's what led me to RHK. In January, as a church, we started preparing and serving dinner once a month. After serving dinner and cleaning up, we stay to worship with the students. That's my favorite part! Seeing the students praise Jesus and worship alongside them is such a great experience.
I have always loved working with kids. I was a dental hygienist before I stayed home with my kids, and my pediatric patients were my favorite! So, being able to serve at RHK, show these students Jesus' love, and fill their bellies is amazing!
I absolutely love the opportunity to pray for the kids at RHK while I shop for food, prepare the meal, drive to RHK, and serve them dinner. This is how I feel the Spirit is leading me to use my God-given gifts—by serving at RHK!
