You never know what a day will hold. Last week, RHK was given a very unexpected, very cool opportunity to get out in the community and introduce more people to Rock House Kids.

Wow! The Try-Beta Club did it again. This morning RHK received a very generous grant for $3500 to help cover the rising costs of fuel for our vans. This is a big help in us being able to offer transportation for some of the kids in our program who would not otherwise have a way to attend our evening program. RHK receives a $5,000 donation from Meijer Store #281. We had some special visitors this week. Our friends from Meijer stopped by with a very generous $5,000 donation. They told us the employees had chosen RHK to receive this gift and that means the world to us! Thank you, Meijer! RHK depends on support from our community to be able to meet the needs of the kids we serve and we are truly grateful. You guys rock!

Wow! RHK was chosen as this year's nonprofit spotlight for the ComEd Power Of Change giving program.

Big thanks going out to Bucciferro Family McDonald's  for providing dinner for our kiddos this past Wednesday night. We had a last minute cancelation and they stepped up in a big way to make sure they received a hot meal. As you can tell by the big smiles, the kids were slightly excited when they found out what was for dinner that night.

We had a visit from our friends at American Control Electronics this morning. Wow! They just wrapped up a three-week collection drive for RHK.

Our friends from Forest City Church made our RHK end of summer trip to Lockwood Park the best one yet

Our staff have a great time visiting local churches and groups, sharing about the mission of RHK. Sometimes it is speaking during a church service, or helping kids in children’s church pack Kid-friendly food bags for our kids.

Guess what? We saw more than 550 students and parents attend the event! School-age kids and teens who needed them received school physicals, eye exams, backpacks with school supplies, and much more. All thanks to the 25+ different organizations and churches that came together to make sure families in the communities had what they needed to help their kids start the new school year.

RHK is blessed to receive two grants recently. The first is a $2,500 grant from the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club to help cover costs to upgrade our security cameras, helping to better ensure the safety of our kids when they are here. The second is a generous grant from the Rockford Park District. We received vouchers worth $2,350 which make it possible for us to take our kids on field trips this summer to locations like Alpine pool, the Discovery Center, Lockwood Park, and M

We had a special visit from our friends at First Northern Credit Union last Friday. Because of their hard working employees and very generous patrons, they were able to raise nearly $2,000 to bless our kids. Wow! We appreciate your support. You guys rock!
