Meet Miss Tiny! She serves Monday and Wednesday evenings, pretty much wherever she is needed. On Mondays, she can usually be found with our little Pebbles (1st & 2nd graders) and most recently, she has been leading the Memory Verse station for our 3rd – 5th graders on Wednesdays.
Tiny grew up in Chicago. She has three grown children and one “Glambaby” – her son’s beautiful eight-year-old daughter.
She worked as a Switch woman with the Chicago Transit Authority for 24 years. She says working on the railroad was very fulfilling and she misses it, but she was forced to retire last year for health reasons.
She is also a licensed minister of the Word. “I really enjoy doing anything for the Lord because He saved me 47 years ago and has kept me all of these years from hurt, harm and danger. He continues to prove Himself to me.
Last May, a friend who volunteers at RHK encouraged Tiny to become a volunteer herself. She is motivated to share to love of Christ with kids and wants to make an impact in their lives, so she jumped right in. She shared how, recently, the children were so quiet and focused during the Bible lesson time in chapel. She made a point of telling them how proud she was of them, as they are usually so “busy” during that time.
Tiny encourages others to consider becoming an RHK volunteer “because ‘The harvest is plentiful and the labors are few.’ You won’t lose your reward.”
