Recently, we introduced prayer jars to our kids. When any of the kids or teens has a prayer request they would like others to pray for, they can write it on a prayer slip and put it in the jar. They choose whether they want to put their name on it or not. These requests are put up in the hallway outside of our chapel so that the other kids, volunteers, and staff can stop and pray for them.

Calling all prayer warriors! The spiritual battle for our kids is real and can be intense, but we know there is power in prayer!

On May 2, it was our great privilege to honor our incredible, faithful, committed, brilliant, beautiful (add your adjective here!) volunteer team with a special dinner to show our appreciation for all they do for our kids. 

Last weekend, our 4th & 5th-graders got out of the city and spent a few days at Phantom Ranch Camp in Mukwonago, WI.

Our prayer team is vital to standing in the gap with us in ministry. Thank you for partnering with us in this way.

Each night we meet with the kids, I feel the burden of making sure we stick with our Mission and Vision. If you are not quite sure what that is, let me put it here: The Mission of RHK is "Sharing God's love with inner-city children through Biblical principles, with physical and spiritual solutions." RHK's Vision is "Meeting the physical, emotional, and educational needs of inner-city children by instilling hope in a safe, Christ-centered environment."

Rock House Kids established an endowment in 2024 with the goal to provide long-term financial support to the organization. In addition to the long-term purpose, the endowment can also provide short-term financial assistance under direction from the board and assist with grant applications whereby qualification requirements entail the non-profit have an endowment established.

Our RHK teens had special guests from the Rockford Police Canine Unit.

Serving the kids keeps me yearning to return every week. This is my way of serving Christ - by being there for all of them. Mostly, I feel called to be there to do my best to help lead them in the ways of the Lord. These kids have a special place in my heart. The world works against them non-stop. I just want to be someone they can look to that is there for them.

At RHK, we're continually amazed by the generosity of those who support our mission to share God's love with inner-city youth. One humbling example of this giving spirit comes from a small local church with just under 45 members that has faithfully poured into our ministry since its early days as a church.

We had a visit from the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois Troop 875 this week. They worked hard selling several thousand boxes of Girl Scout cookies this year and decided they wanted to donate some boxes to bless our kids. What a treat! Thank you, ladies. We love your giving hearts. You girls ROCK!

We had a special visit from our friends at First Northern Credit Union last Friday. Because of their hard working employees and very generous patrons, they were able to raise nearly $2,000 to bless our kids. Wow! We appreciate your support. You guys rock!

Today, meet our new Volunteer Coordinator, Rebekah Barczuk. RHK relies heavily on volunteers in serving all of the kids who come. Rebekah is responsible for everything from recruiting and training to scheduling to mentoring our volunteers - and she is doing an amazing job. Welcome, Rebekah!
