It's Time to Cut the Ribbon!

Construction is finished. Rock House Kids’ newly renovated expansion area is ready for use with the 250 children and teens we serve. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024. We are located at 1325 7th Street and we would love to have you join us.

The event is from 11-1 PM, starting with the ribbon cutting at 11 AM. The public is invited, and community members are encouraged to come help commemorate the occasion and tour the new space.

Rock House Kids Executive Director Dee Lacny said, “We are so excited to have the expansion finally completed. We began this process in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a long time coming. At RHK, we will not start a project unless 100% of the funding is in hand. We thank Representative Maurice West and the community for their generous support. Without them, we would not have the extra space to serve even more of the inner-city children in Rockford.”

RHK began raising funds for this expansion project in October 2020 and met its fundraising goal in February 2023.

With this addition, RHK anticipates a greater impact on the kids they serve and the possibility of both age groups (teens and elementary) attending all four evenings each week (Monday through Thursday) rather than trading off nights. It will also make it possible for more kids to come. We can't wait to see what lies ahead.
