This week our kids and teens both took field trips to Rockford's Midway Village. They toured both the museum and the Victorian village.
Learning what life was like back then was an eye-opener for some. They enjoyed the different experiences they got to try out. Some learned how to wash clothes using a wash board and hang them on a clothesline, others made rope by hand or tried their hand at mowing the lawn using a manual push mower. Tour guides in period costumes told how students would write on slates instead of paper and taught them how to square dance in the barn. Racing through the Camp Grant obstacle course to see who could get the fastest time was a favorite.
Our thanks both to the good folks at Midway Village for hosting us and to our community of supporters who make trips like this possible for our kids. You guys ROCK!
