What a night! You could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air as the kids arrived at RHK Monday evening for our annual Christmas party. This is the night our kids, volunteers, and staff all look forward to all year long.
Thanks to one of our generous partners, the evening started with a big holiday meal complete with ham, turkey, and all the fixings.
Once everyone had filled their bellies, they gathered in the chapel where they sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and the puppet team performed a special Christmas song to celebrate. Then, as is our tradition at RHK, we watched the "Legend of the Candy Cane," a story that shares how each part of a candy cane points us to Jesus. (If you haven't seen it, check it out here: https://youtu.be/uVXQpejFhrU?feature=shared. After the video, Miss Dee used the candy cane to share the good news of salvation and how Jesus is the greatest gift ever given.
At the end of the evening, it was finally time to open the gifts so many of you provided for them. For the first time, now that we have our new gym, the kids were able to go there and spread out to open their gifts together, instead of cramming into separate small classrooms. The smiles, laughter, and squeals of delight told how happy they were with what they received.
Happy Birthday, Jesus! We love you!
