After spending some time among the homeless adult population in inner city Rockford
Dola started noticing the population of homeless children. She recognized the need for
these children to have adult mentors where there were none. She noticed the need for
food and clothing were there were none. She noticed the need for tutoring and
encouragement where there was none. And she noticed the need for simple truth
to be spoken into their lives as well as simply expressing love to them.

So ten years ago Dola's dream to bring the love of Jesus into the lives of the at-risk
children of Rockford's inner city became a reality with the Rock House. She saw a
need to minister to these kids and sacrificed her upper-middle class suburban
life in order to serve them.

Dola was presented with the citizen of the Year award at the 2009 Patriotic Breakfast
hosted by radio stations WGSL/WQFL on the 4th of July.
